Finding the modern silhouette in an ancient frame
Weaving soft knit against industrial concrete
I focused on the visual tension between the tactile nature of the knitwear and the cold, unyielding surfaces of the market. The natural light filtering through the roof helped separate the subject from the busy background, making the texture of the clothing the main focal point.
Using market lines to guide the eye
Instead of shooting standard portraits, I used the repetition of the market stalls to frame the subject. By finding lower angles and specific sightlines, I turned the architecture into a set of leading lines that force the viewer to focus on the person in the frame.
Letting the environment hold the subject
These images are about making the subject feel like a natural part of the space rather than a visitor. By placing them near the crates and stalls, I captured a sense of quiet stillness that exists in contrast to the functional, working history of the building.
